Taiwan 2017: Trip to Shifen, Jiufen, Raohe Night market and Wufenpu Shopping

My flight was on a saturday night of July 1, 2017 and I arrived at Taoyuan airport at around past 12mn the following day. I was in a hurry getting out of the immigration as I have to rush to the wifi egg provider which closes at 1am. This costs me around P752.00 good for 4 days. To get here, once you reach the immigration's exit, turn right then just go straight. You will see 2 wifi providers at the end and in front of elevators going to bus terminal. There is no way you'll not be able to find this on your way to airport especially if your taking the bus. However, upon return of the egg, you need to ask the information counter how to reach here as you'll be arriving at the other side of the airport.

Anyway, after getting the wifi egg, ride the escalator going to the ticket booth to buy bus tickets. Take Kuokuang bus number 1819 for only $125 NTD. Also, if you have easy card(Taiwan's MRT card), you can also use it for transportation and purchase items at0 convenience storez such as 7eleven. The bus' route is going to Taipei Main Station and my hotel is located at Ximending area. Since it's already 1:30 am, I took a cab going to the hotel for $105 NTD. I stayed at Holiday Fun Hostel which is located just beside Cheers Hotel and at the back of Lux 4D Cinema. It's really easy to locate though it will take around 10 minutes walk to reach the MRT.

I just slept for a few hours then woke up at around 6:30 am. I booked a bus tour through Klook and was able to catch my Shuttle Bus going to Juifen and Shifen at 9am in front of  Ximen Station, Exit 4. It only costs me --- which is so convenient as Shifen and Jiufen are kind of far from each other. There is an option to do a morning or afternoon tour. It's up to you which one do you prefer. For us, we chose the morning tour since we have other plans that night.

Anyway, our first stop is Shifen where the famous sky lanterns are being lit up. The ones I got is the colorful one which costs P200 NTD. The plain one costs P150. Its up to you which one do you prefer.

Beside the train rails are lots of food stalls and souvenir shops. Here, I tried the mini sausage in ground pepper and it tastes so good. It was a really hot and humid day so I got a lemon juice to partner it with.

We stayed at Shifen for an hour and headed to Jiufen after. It took around 30-45 minutes ride going there. This is the inspiration to the famous "Spirited Away" anime movie which happens to be one of my favorites.

Anyway, once you arrive there, you'll be overwhelmed by lots and lots of food stalls. This is a great place for foodtrip and pasalubong shopping. We ate a little bit of everything but since were walking since 8am, we got tired and wanted to sit down in an airconditioned restaurant to relax a bit. Luckily, there are some dining areas where you can chill and eat delicious food at very affordable price.

I highly suggest that you try everything that you want in this area. Although there are a number of night markets in Taipei, the fòod that they sell sometimes differ per place. For example, I've been wanting to try the ice cream wrapped in a --- but since I just had yogurt ice cream after lunch, I decided to pass on it thinking it would be available elsewhere. Sad to say, I have no luck finding the same both at Raohe and Shilin Night market.

After Jiufen, the bus headed back to Ximending area. We just rested and put our shopping bags at the hotel and took a cab going to Wufenpu. Please note that taxis in taipei are kind of expensive. Flag down is $75 NTF and charges $5 NTD almost every 30 seconds. I dont know if its just the taxi we rode on to. Anyway, you also have a choice to just ride the train for only $20-30 NTD. For us, we were somewhat tired and wanted to reserve our energy for more shopping and foodtriping.

Wufenpu is located at Songshan station, green line. Here is where every shopaholic will go crazy for clothes. It was wild!!!! Its easy to get lost in here. Its similar to Ehwa university iN korea but cheaper. You can find clothes here from $100-800 NTF at a very decent quality. Most of the clothes here are Korean made. Since I just went to Korea last year, I can realĺy say that the clothes designs are also very similar. Its a shopping mecca which you can spend all night just strolling around.

At first, I was panic buying and had to buy at every shop that I look into. But then I realized that as I walk farther, clothes are getting cheaper with better quality so I tried to calm myself to buy only the clothes that I really wanted.

After my shopping experience, go back to the side of the train station and head straight to Raohe Night Market. I swear this one is way better than Shilin Nigh Market. I will blog my Shilin experience on a separate blog so wait for it.

Anyway, once you get to the entrance of Raohe, you'll find lots of food stalls but this its more chaotic. I like the crowd here. Dont forget to buy the beef pepper bun just in front of the entrance. You will find it easily as there is always a long line in this store.

I also tried other things such as beef pepper steak, lemon juice, etc...

We realized its almost 12mn so we just took a cab to get back to our hotel.

Today was a super fun and tiring first day!

I love taipei!

Xoxo,
Krish

KOREAN BEAUTY AND SKIN CARE HAUL 2016

Before I went to Korea, I did a lot of research for Korean Beauty and Skin care products. That was the start of my addiction to YouTube and other K-beauty websites. I've been so addicted that I allocated 40% of my shopping money for it (It used to be 100% Clothing and Fashion Budget).. I'm not even vain and I didn't have any skincare products until I went to Seoul last September.  We stayed in Myeongdong and we were surrounded by k-beauty stores. Imagine, in front of our hotel is Etude house, beside us is the biggest Nature Republic and Club Clio.like OMG!!!! I am writing this blog by brand instead of by category.  First, let me start with NATURE REPUBLIC. People have been raving about this Aloe vera soothing gel but unfortunately, my skin did react while using this product so I just gave it to my brother. The Soothing Mist on the other hand works well but I just put it on my hair instead on my face.  The ARGAN line is a must have. Until now, I stil...

Bloggers United 3

It was my first time to attend the Bloggers United Event. For quite some time, I am getting so addicted with blogging. At first I was just a fan who follow other people's blogs but eventually, I decided to make my own write ups.The first people that I followed were Camille Co, Kryz Uy and Laureen Uy. Then, after some time, I have known some more fashion bloggers who are real fashionistas in their own right. Actually, we all are! It's just how you carry yourself even if you go "Ga-ga" sometimes.  I was so happy with the event yesterday at Grand View Events Place. There were a number of sponsors and all my favorite bloggers were there. I am so excited to show you guys my photos with them. I wish I could be like them in the future(ehem!)I'm so sorry for the arrangement of the pictures. I'm having a hard time getting the pictures move into it's right places... ugh!  with Liz Lanuzo with Gela Bestie   with David Guison with Bjorn...

How I Did my Dream Euro Trip for less than P200,000 (All-in)

How I Did my Dream Euro Trip for less than P200,000 (All-in) Planning your first Europe trip needs a lot of work. Mine, I planned for a year before finally fulfilling it.  First, you have to know what kind of traveler you are and which places do you prefer going to. Do you enjoy going to museums? Do you like drinking and partying? Do you prefer walking or riding different public transportations? You might think, do I really need to think about these things? For me, ABSOLUTELY YES!!! The reason is that Europe is expensive (if you compare their currency with Philippine Peso) and if you are on a tight budget like me, you have to make sure that you will get your money’s worth. Of course, it’s also another set of adventure if you don’t want to plan too much and just go wherever your feet takes you. But for me that’s not really an option. I only had 2 weeks to travel and as a female solo traveler, I had to make sure that my safety is my utmost priority. Also, since I ha...
